A Review of "Buffalo Soldier: Trial by Fire"

Buffalo Soldier – A Review
By Virginia Phiri, author of Highway Queen

Reading this book is like being face to face with (a) Buffalo Soldier. Many stories have been told, songs sung about Buffalo Soldiers, but this time it is different. This well written story brings out the humbleness, humaneness and the history of the Buffalo Soldier in such a way that it is not about wars and fighting but about a people.

Of prominence in the story are hard work, patience, tolerance and forgiveness as Ben Carter, the Buffalo Soldier goes about his business under harsh conditions.  Lessons learned in this book are that despite the odd mistrust, arguments, jealousy, misunderstandings and general mischief, the team puts aside its differences and unites on common ground to achieve positive results.

One can conclude by saying that credentials of the original Buffalo Soldier have obviously inspired the modern day Buffalo Soldiers to be professional in the way that he or she conducts their core business.
